California PCH Road trip: how to do it on a budget

A road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway is an amazing getaway. A California coast road trip is a must for every ambitious traveler. The open road, the rocky coastline, beautiful beaches and perfect little seaside towns situated along the Pacific Coast Highway may sound like a dream until you start seeing the dollar signs that can go along with such a trip.

I traveled the Pacific Coast Highway in California last year along with my 11-year old daughter for a total of 10 days, which may be more or less than you have planned for your road trip, but I was surprised that we were actually able to stay under budget. Can’t be mad about that!  Here are some ways you can save on your California coast road trip! They may not all work for you, but even just using one or two of these ideas can really save you some money along the way.  (more…)
